Durango is 0-4 against Foothill since September of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Durango Trailblazers will head out on the road to face off against the Foothill Falcons at 6:00 p.m. Durango has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since August 25.
Last Friday, Durango took a serious blow against Desert Pines, falling 33-6. While losing is never fun, Durango can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nevada football rankings (they are ranked 33rd, while Desert Pines is ranked fourth).
Durango's defeat came about despite a quality game from Daelyn Gray, who rushed for 88 yards and a touchdown on only ten carries. Gray's longest rush was for an incredible 74 yards.
Even if they lost, Durango's defensive line still kept up the pressure with five sacks. Desert Pines' QB won't forget Takoda Bliss anytime soon given Bliss sacked him five times.
Meanwhile, Foothill unfortunately witnessed the end of their eight-game winning streak on Friday. They lost to Basic on the road by a decisive 49-32 margin. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Foothill's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Mason Dew, who threw for 298 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 11.9 yards per attempt, and Tarrell Mack-Lovely who picked up 142 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Dew hasn't dropped below three passing touchdowns for three straight games.
Durango's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 1-8. As for Foothill, their loss dropped their record down to 8-2.
Durango was dealt a bruising 47-7 loss at the hands of Foothill in their previous matchup back in September. Can Durango avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
