The Perry Pumas will square off against the Hamilton Huskies at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. Perry is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4 runs per game this season.
Perry is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Arizona's top teams: Basha, who was ranked second at the time (Perry was ranked 25th). The Pumas walked away with a 6-1 win over the Bears on Thursday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Pumas.
Ensley Mach tossed a big game, pitching 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single walk in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Perry let Sofia Davis and Ellie Leicht run wild. Davis went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI, while Leicht went 2-for-3 with one home run. The team also got some help courtesy of CC Hall, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.
Perry was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. They are 7-2 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Hamilton's offense. They came up short against Pinnacle on Friday, falling 18-0. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Huskies, who until this contest were averaging four runs allowed.
Hamilton's loss dropped their record down to 10-6. As for Perry, their victory bumped their record up to 9-7.
Monday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Perry hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .393. However, it's not like Hamilton struggles in that department as they've averaged .359. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Perry skirted past Hamilton 3-2 in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. Do the Pumas have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Huskies turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
