The Centennial Rams came tearing into Friday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 48 points) and they left with even more momentum. They snuck past Moffat with a 67-62 victory. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Devon Vigil continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 26 points along with six steals and five rebounds. He hasn't dropped below two steals for eight straight games. Samuel Aguilera was another key contributor, scoring four points along with 14 rebounds and five blocks.
Ziah Pesqueira and Noble Cole certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Pesqueira scored 20 points along with seven steals and five rebounds, while Cole dropped a double-double on 17 points and 16 rebounds. Pesqueira is crushing the steal category: he's posted at least four every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Martinez, who scored eight points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Centennial's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-4. As for Moffat, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-2.
Centennial will look to defend their home court on Saturday against the Thunderbirds at 5:30 p.m. Hopefully Sangre de Cristo focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 last Tuesday. As for Moffat, they will head out on the road to take on the Miners at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. Allowing an average of 50.1 points per game, Creede has struggled on the defensive end, but that doesn't have to be the case in this game.
