On Friday, it was a hard-fought contest, but Mather had to settle for a 50-47 defeat against Chicago Academy.
Isaiah Cortez was his usual excellent self, going 6 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 38 points and 1 assists for Chicago Academy. The game was Cortez's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kyle Orta, who scored nine points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Mather's loss dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Chicago Academy, the win got them back to even at 4-4.
Mather won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Maine South at 1:00 p.m. on December 16th. Maine South presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Mather in Illinois (Maine South is ranked 185th, while Mather is ranked 628th). Chicago Academy will be home for the holidays to greet Alcott at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
