5A District 12 recap Oct. 16, 2012
Golden Gate's Alex Garcia recorded the longest rushing play in 5A District 12 this season in his game against Palmetto Ridge last week. Garcia's team topped the Bears as he sprinted for 64 yards on the play and finished with 137 in all.
Immokalee took down Cape Coral 30-10 last week, the largest margin of any game. Louinelson Celian threw for 133 yards and one touchdown and ran for 23 yards in the win.
Xavier Richardson was the best wideout in the league this week as the Indians beat the Seahawks. Richardson tallied four receptions for 49 yards. J.C. Jackson helped Immokalee's passing attack out by catching three balls for 36 yards.
Immokalee's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Indians feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Tshumbi Johnson has thrown for 887 yards and 11 touchdowns this season, while Jackson has 17 catches for 289 yards. D'ernest Johnson leads the league in rushing with 438 yards.
A big matchup in 5A District 12 this week will be when Lely takes on Golden Gate. As it stands, the Trojans are in second, while Mike DiGrigoli's team is in third.
The Titans made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 6,759 from 7,049. The improvement was the result of 24-7 victory over Palmetto Ridge last week.
