The Calvert Senecas are taking a road trip to challenge the Lakota Raiders at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Calvert is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
On Monday, Calvert made easy work of Gibsonburg and carried off a 15-3 victory. Considering the Senecas have won six contests by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Bryce Moser was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Moser was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Vincenzo Lyons and AJ Shoemaker did most of the damage at the plate: Lyons got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs and one RBI, while Shoemaker went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Branyan Coleman, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Lakota fell victim to Van Buren and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They lost 8-0 to the Black Knights. The matchup marked the first time this season in which the Raiders were not able to get on the board.
Lakota's loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-3. As for Calvert, their record now sits at 8-0.
Lakota's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Calvert hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .372. It's a different story for Lakota, though, as they've only averaged .254. Will they be able to contain Calvert's hitters?
Calvert got the 'W' when the teams last played back in May of 2025 against Lakota by a conclusive 10-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Senecas since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
