Avon had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 14-run drubbing they dealt McCutcheon on Thursday. The Orioles blew past the Mavericks 17-3. The Orioles have beaten the Mavericks the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Mavericks has come to flipping the script.

Avon let Katie Huckaby and Payton Kellermeier run wild. Huckaby got on base in four of her five plate appearances with six RBI and two doubles, while Kellermeier got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI Kellermeier has posted since back in May of 2025. Regan Cooper was another key player, getting on base in three of her six plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

Avon kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. They are 6-2 when they post 11 or more hits.

Avon now has a winning record of 10-9. As for McCutcheon, they moved to 10-7 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak.
