Carver is 2-8 against Cohasset since May of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Crusaders will be playing at home against the Skippers at 4:30 p.m.
Carver is headed into Friday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Wednesday. They came up short against Norwell, falling 14-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Crusaders have suffered against the Clippers since May 6, 2015.
Carver saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ryder Holmes, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. Teagan Zakrzewski was another, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Cohasset can bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 14-2 margin over Rockland. That 12 run margin sets a new team best for the Skippers this season.
Tucker Bliss made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. He is becoming a predictor of Cohasset's success: when he posts at least three hits the team is undefeated (and 2-8 when he doesn't).
In other batting news, Cohasset got a massive performance out of Ian Konradt, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those two doubles gave Konradt a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Austin Soderberg, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Cohasset was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matches.
Cohasset's victory bumped their record up to 5-8. As for Carver, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-8.
