The Steubenville Big Red's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight defeat. They were dealt a 80-41 defeat at the hands of Morgantown. Steubenville was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 44-23.
Steubenville lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Tre'von Wiggins, who scored 14 points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Santino Haney, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Steubenville has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season. As for Morgantown, they pushed their record up to 17-1 with that win, which was their 23rd straight at home dating back to last season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Steubenville won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against New Philadelphia at 7:30 p.m. on February 7th. Hopefully Steubenville focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Tuesday. As for Morgantown, they will head out on the road to face off against Bridgeport at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Morgantown's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 11 contests.
