They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 13-12 win over the Amity Warriors on Friday. This was payback for the Bulldogs, who suffered a 25-3 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Willamina got a massive performance out of Dominic Cole, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those two runs gave Cole a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Orrin Reid, who got on base in two of his five plate appearances with four stolen bases and three runs.
Willamina pushed their record up to 3-17 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Amity, they are on a 13-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-15.
Coming up, Amity will square off against Yamhill-Carlton at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Willamina will be paying especially close attention to the Warriors' match: after the Warriors face off against Elmira, they'll take on Willamina again at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
