The Hillside Hornets lost to the Northern Durham Knights back in January, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Tuesday. Hillside strolled past Northern Durham with points to spare, taking the game 62-45. Given Hillside's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 116th, while Northern Durham is ranked 263rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Jayde Braswell was his usual excellent self, scoring 19 points along with four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Joshua Basnight, who scored nine points along with two steals.
Hillside has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. As for Northern Durham, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-12.
Hillside will head out on the road to take on East Chapel Hill at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hillside is coming into the contest with three straight victories on the road, meaning East Chapel Hill will have to defend against a team hungry for a win. As for Northern Durham, they will be playing at home against Chapel Hill at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Chapel Hill focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Tuesday.
