The Washington Blue Lions put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with a 49-42 victory over Wilmington. Despite the victory, that was the fewest points Washington has scored all year.
Washington's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Isaiah Haithcock led the charge by scoring 15 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. The contest was Haithcock's fifth in a row with at least ten points. John Wall was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with five rebounds.
Washington's victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-0. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.4 points per game. As for Wilmington, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-5.
Washington will head out on the road to face off against Miami Trace at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Miami Trace knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four games -- so hopefully Washington likes a good challenge. Wilmington will be home for the holidays to greet Carroll at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Carroll is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.
