The Lake Travis Cavaliers had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They strolled past Johnson with points to spare, taking the game 73-57. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Adrian Mathis continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 21 points along with four steals. Those 21 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Chas Biegel, who scored ten points along with eight assists.
Lake Travis pushed their record up to 22-3 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.8 points per game. As for Johnson, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 19-5.
Lake Travis will head out on the road to face off against Akins at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Akins is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak. As for Johnson, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Del Valle at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Del Valle will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 652nd, while Johnson is ranked 44th).
