Softball Recap: Sturgis Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Sturgis can bid farewell to their nine-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They never let the Central Bearcats get on the board and left with a 16-0 victory. The Trojans' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Riley Northrop was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Northrop was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Madison Webb was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Hannah Stielau was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Sturgis always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .643. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Sturgis' win bumped their record up to 2-10. As for Central, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Sturgis will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Bearcats: the pair will be back at it again later today.
