After a string of three wins, the Franklin Road Christian Minutemen's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They took a 37-30 hit to the loss column at the hands of Boyd Christian. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Franklin Road Christian in their matchups with Boyd Christian: they've now lost three in a row.
Presley Applegate and Lakelyn Dempsey certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Applegate scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and seven blocks, while Dempsey scored four points along with eight rebounds and seven steals.
Krista Chisam was the offensive standout of the contest as she dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds. Cydney Perry was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with two steals.
Boyd Christian's lineup was just a bit different on Saturday as Kelly Bush got a bit more time on the court (22 vs. her season average of 7.34). Bush made the most of the opportunity, scoring a point along with nine rebounds and four blocks. A few more games like that and she might be seeing even more time going forward.
Franklin Road Christian's loss dropped their record down to 24-6. As for Boyd Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 contests, which provided a massive bump to their 22-12 record this season.
Franklin Road Christian will head out on the road to challenge Pleasant View Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Boyd Christian, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Christian Community at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Boyd Christian is coming into the game with ten straight wins at home, so Christian Community is out to stop a team with plenty of momentum.
