The Classical Prep Lions's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their fourth straight defeat. They had to suffer through a rough 64-30 loss at the hands of Indian Rocks Christian. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Classical Prep of the 72-18 defeat they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2023.
Despite the defeat, Classical Prep saw an underclassman step up: Kalan Schroder almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds.
Will Murphree continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Indian Rocks Christian, scoring 24 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. That makes it six consecutive games in which Murphree has scored at least a third of Indian Rocks Christian's points. Another player making a difference was Austin McDonnel, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds.
Classical Prep's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-13. As for Indian Rocks Christian, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-5.
Classical Prep will be playing at home against the Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Florida (Genesis Prep is ranked 792nd, while the Lions are ranked 796th). As for Indian Rocks Christian, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Blazers at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Sarasota Christian is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
