South Albany lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Central, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Friday's game. The Redhawks blew past the Panthers 12-3 on Friday. Considering the Redhawks have won nine matchups by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Summer Strickland made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Those two hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, South Albany got a massive performance out of Parker Doerr, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most RBI Doerr has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Maddie Angel, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
South Albany always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .550. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Central only posted an OBP of .300.
The win (which was South Albany's third in a row) raised their record to 10-8. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Central, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-13 record this season.
