North Bay Haven Academy is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Bozeman, sneaking past 13-12. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Buccaneers, who until this match were averaging 2.19 runs allowed.
Kaylee Goodpaster was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Nevaeh Tarr was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run and one double.
North Bay Haven Academy hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Baldwin had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. They walked away with a 7-4 win over the Eagles.
Hayden Peebles spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on seven hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Raven Watson, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Makaila Fry, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
North Bay Haven Academy pushed their record up to 23-3 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.1 runs over those games. As for Baldwin, their record is now 20-7.
Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. North Bay Haven Academy hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .405. However, it's not like Baldwin struggles in that department as they've averaged .346. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
