The Calhoun Academy Cavaliers waltzed into their contest on Friday with two straight wins but they left with three. They strolled past Holly Hill Academy with points to spare, taking the game 61-47. That's another feather in the cap for Calhoun Academy, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Calhoun Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Colt Layton, who scored 16 points along with five assists and five steals. Layton continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Chase Strickland was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with nine rebounds and three steals.
Calhoun Academy has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. As for Holly Hill Academy, their loss was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 5-10.
Calhoun Academy will take on Andrew Jackson Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Holly Hill Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Crown Leadership Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Crown Leadership Academy is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
