The Loudoun Valley Vikings will face off against the Briar Woods Falcons at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Loudoun Valley lost a heartbreaker the last time they played John Champe, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Thursday's game. Loudoun Valley put the hurt on John Champe with a sharp 16-4 victory on Thursday.
Hailey White was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. White was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Scarlet Tawney and Harlie Reich did most of the damage at the plate: Tawney went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Reich scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was Maia Valenti, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Loudoun Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .697. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as John Champe only posted an OBP of .346.
Meanwhile, Briar Woods won against Yorktown on Friday with five runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. Briar Woods didn't even let Freedom on the board, marking Briar Woods' second-straight 5-0 shutout. The win continues a trend for the Falcons in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won three in a row.
Freedom's batters probably weren't too happy with Caprice Bohmer, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 14 Ks (she gave up zero walks). Bohmer has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Landry West, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI and one triple. Those RBI were her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kara Yurish, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
The victory got Briar Woods back to even at 2-2. As for Loudoun Valley, the win got them back to even at 1-1.
