The Muncie Central Bearcats will head out on the road to face off against the Lapel Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
Muncie Central lost a heartbreaker to Delta when they met back in December of 2021, and they left with a heavy heart again on Saturday. Muncie Central fell 33-25 to Delta. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Muncie Central has scored all season.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from DeMarkis Cole, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds. He scored a full 48% of Muncie Central's points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Xaviya Cook was another key contributor, scoring four points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Lapel entered their tilt with Mississinewa with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Lapel enjoyed a cozy 61-44 win over Mississinewa on Saturday.
Lapel got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Brode B judge out in front who scored 23 points along with seven rebounds. B judge also grabbed two steals for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Bode Judge, who scored 19 points along with eight rebounds.
Muncie Central now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Lapel, their win bumped their record up to 3-4.
Muncie Central strolled past Lapel in their previous meeting back in December of 2022 by a score of 57-43. The rematch might be a little tougher for Muncie Central since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
