Softball Recap: St. David Extends Winning Streak to Three

St. David lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Mogollon, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Friday's matchup. The Tigers were the clear victors by a 13-1 margin over the Mustangs on Friday. Considering the Tigers have won six games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Paisley Gooding was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Emelynn Jacquez was a standout: she scored two runs while going 3-for-4. What's more, she posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Emma Hart, who scored four runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

St. David always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mogollon only posted an OBP of .167.

The victory was the third in a row for St. David, bringing their record up to 8-3. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.0 runs over those games. As for Mogollon, they are on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8.

St. David wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 29-4 victory against San Simon on the 4th. As for Mogollon, they have also already played their next matchup, a 10-9 defeat against Holbrook on the 31st.
