Deep Run has gone 8-2 against Maggie Walker recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Wildcats will head out to face off against Maggie Walker at 5:30 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Tuesday.
Deep Run had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Hermitage on Friday. The Wildcats put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 12-2 victory. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.
Kaden Staffenberg looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Henry Jennings was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. That triple was his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Saunders, who got on base in both of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Maggie Walker came tearing into Thursday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Warriors as they made off with an 18-1 victory. The match marked Maggie Walker's most dominant win of the season so far.
Charlie Fetter and Colton Moore were major factors no matter where they played. On the mound, Fetter pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Moore pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. At the plate, Fetter got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while Moore got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most runs Fetter has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, Carson Holbert and Nate Bertha did most of the damage at the plate: Holbert got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double, while Bertha got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base. Those three runs gave Bertha a new career-high. Cash Garrett was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
Maggie Walker always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .657. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.
Maggie Walker pushed their record up to 4-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Deep Run, their record now sits at 8-2.
Everything went Deep Run's way against Maggie Walker when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Deep Run made off with a 9-2 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
