The Skyridge Falcons will square off against the Pleasant Grove Vikings at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Skyridge lost 25-17 to Westlake on Tuesday.
Hudson Ford led a balanced group of hitters, going 3-for-6 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Isabella Plewe was another key player, going 4-for-5 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Pleasant Grove made easy work of Lone Peak on Tuesday and carried off a 19-4 win. The Vikings might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 games by six runs or more this season.
Keslie Draney made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over four innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Those eight strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with four RBI and two doubles.
In other batting news, Pleasant Grove got a massive performance out of Maile Larsen, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two doubles. That's the most hits Larsen has posted over her last ten matches. Another player making a difference was Grace Norman, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.
Pleasant Grove always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .618. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lone Peak only posted an OBP of .364.
Pleasant Grove is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games. As for Skyridge, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-11.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Skyridge hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .359. However, it's not like Pleasant Grove struggles in that department as they've averaged .456. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
