Bullock County has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the Montgomery Catholic Knights at 5:45 p.m. on Friday. Bullock County will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings (they are ranked 386th, while Montgomery Catholic is ranked 142nd).
While it was all tied up 17-17 at halftime, Bullock County was not quite Booker T. Washington's equal in the second half on Friday. Bullock County took a 46-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of Booker T. Washington.
Meanwhile, Montgomery Catholic entered their tilt with Booker T. Washington with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. Montgomery Catholic took down Booker T. Washington 44-27 on Tuesday. The score was all tied up 18-18 at the break, but Montgomery Catholic was the (much) better team in the second half.
Montgomery Catholic can attribute much of their success to Hannah Smith, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and six steals, and Heaven Bailey, who scored 13 points along with eight steals and six rebounds. Bailey is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 16 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Joanna Marlow, who scored two points along with eight rebounds and four blocks.
Bullock County dropped their record down to 3-14 with that loss, which was their seventh straight at home. As for Montgomery Catholic, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-10 record this season.
Bullock County was dealt a bruising 81-32 defeat at the hands of Montgomery Catholic when the teams last played on Thursday. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Smith, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 14 rebounds.
