The Rouse Raiders waltzed into their game on Friday with two straight wins but they left with three. They walked away with a 67-54 victory over Cedar Park. Given Rouse's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 27th, while Cedar Park is ranked 269th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Rouse's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Amarie Haywood led the charge by scoring 23 points along with eight rebounds and two blocks. Another player making a difference was Devin Brown, who scored 16 points.
Cedar Park's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Christian Faulkner, who scored 14 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Faulkner has scored all season. Nabil Ismail was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Rouse has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season. As for Cedar Park, their loss dropped their record down to 14-10.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rouse will take on Leander at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Leander is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road. As for Cedar Park, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Liberty Hill at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Liberty Hill's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last eight matches.
