It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 59-18, which was the final score in Monument Academy's tilt against the Buffaloes last Thursday. Monument Academy was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-7.
Meanwhile, Liberty Tree Academy's recent rough patch got a bit rougher back in January after their seventh straight defeat. They were dealt a 75-29 defeat at the hands of James Irwin. While losing is never fun, Liberty Tree Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 322nd, while the Jaguars are ranked 95th).
This is the second loss in a row for Monument Academy and nudges their season record down to 0-2. As for Liberty Tree Academy, they dropped their record down to 2-9 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Monument Academy was taken down by the War Eagles 56-19 in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Liberty Tree Academy's Maven Frost, who scored 24 points along with six rebounds.
