The Pinecrest Academy Paladins scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Cornerstone Prep Academy 74-71. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Johnny Lynch was his usual excellent self, scoring 25 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Pinecrest Academy's points. Jake Bohn was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with three steals.
Several Cornerstone Prep Academy players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ben Cobb, who scored 27 points along with six rebounds. The match was Cobb's eighth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Simeon Greene, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 14 rebounds.
The win makes it two in a row for Pinecrest Academy and bumps their season record up to 5-7. As for Cornerstone Prep Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-5.
Pinecrest Academy will head out on the road to face off against The King's Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The King's Academy will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive. Cornerstone Prep Academy will take on Hearts Academy at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
