The South Wake Sabres will square off against the Chatham HomeSchool Thunder at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in South Wake's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 14 matchups.
If Chatham HomeSchool heads into halftime all tied up, they better play a good second half: that's when South Wake took over last week. South Wake took down Durham Flight HomeSchool 65-49 on Tuesday. The Sabres haven't had any issues with the Flight recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.
South Wake's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Noah Wright, who went 6-for-14 to rack up 16 points and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Thomas Williams, who posted 15 points.
Meanwhile, it's playoff time, and Chatham HomeSchool had no trouble coming through when it counted. They walked away with a 65-55 victory over DASH on Tuesday. The win was nothing new for the Thunder as they're now sitting on three straight.
South Wake better keep an eye on Luke Coletta. He was instrumental in Chatham HomeSchool's win, going 7-for-11 en route to 17 points along with six assists and five rebounds. Parker Teague was another key player, going 6-for-13 on his way to 12 points.
Chatham HomeSchool's victory was their tenth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 23-13. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.6 points over those games. As for South Wake, their record is now 23-8.
Keep an eye on the arc in Friday's contest: South Wake has been dynamite from deep this season, having drained 35.3% of their three-pointers per game. It's a different story for Chatham HomeSchool, though, as they've only made 25.9% of their threes this season. Given South Wake's sizable advantage in that area, Chatham HomeSchool will need to find a way to close that gap.
South Wake ended up a good deal behind Chatham HomeSchool when the teams last played back in January, losing 67-52. Can South Wake avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
