The Harmony Longhorns will head out to face off against the Eau Gallie Commodores at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
Tuesday just wasn't the day for Harmony's offense. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Osceola on Tuesday. Having soared to a lofty 15 runs in the game before, the Longhorns' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
Harmony saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nicole Yi, who went 2-for-3 with one double.
Meanwhile, Eau Gallie entered their tilt with Rockledge on Thursday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They were the clear victors by a 12-4 margin over the Raiders. The Commodores might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by seven runs or more this season.
Isabel (Izzy) Gambill made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Eau Gallie let Gabriella Barrera and Abigail Latulippe run wild. Barrera went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Latulippe went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI Latulippe has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Leah 'Spike' Pechart, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Eau Gallie lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Eau Gallie's victory was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-6. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.9 runs over those games. As for Harmony, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-8.
Wednesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Harmony hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .335. However, it's not like Eau Gallie struggles in that department as they've averaged .344. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
