On Friday, The William Penn Colonials faced the Middletown Cavaliers in a battle between two of the state's top teams. William Penn suffered a rough 35-13 loss at the hands of Middletown. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for William Penn in their matchups with Middletown: they've now lost eight in a row.
William Penn's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 3-4. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 6-1 Salesianum (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 66.7% over those games). As for Middletown, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-1.
William Penn will be playing in front of their home fans against St. Mark's at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. St. Mark's is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak. As for Middletown, they will head out on the road to face off against Salesianum at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Salesianum is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
