Citrus hasn't had much luck against Hernando recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Hurricanes are taking a road trip to square off against the Leopards at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Tuesday, Citrus needed a bit of extra time to put away Tavares. They skirted past the Bulldogs 8-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Hurricanes have posted since April 15, 2025.
The team relied heavily on Haley Pullen, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Braylen Borneman also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Citrus kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Hernando had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They walked away with a 9-4 win over the Marauders.
LEANNA CLARK made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.
In other batting news, LILY JERNIGAN was excellent, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was AMMARAE 'RAE' EASTON, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Citrus' record now sits at 3-4. As for Hernando, their record is now 4-2.
Citrus got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in February of 2025 against Hernando by a conclusive 9-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hurricanes since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
