The Winters Mill Falcons will head out on the road to square off against the Mount de Sales Academy Sailors at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Winters Mill has struggled recently with 15 defeats in a row, while the Sailors will arrive with nine straight victories.
Last Friday, Winters Mill came up short against the Cavaliers and fell 38-27. While losing is never fun, Winters Mill can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 231st, while the Cavaliers are ranked 88th).
Meanwhile, Mount de Sales Academy strolled past the with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 42-25.
Mount de Sales Academy's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Ashley Hawkins, who scored six points along with ten rebounds and four steals, and Shelby Lewis, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 17 rebounds. It was the first time this season that Hawkins grabbed two or more steals.
Winters Mill's loss was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-13. As for Mount de Sales Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-4 record this season.
