Basketball Recap: North Mesquite Piles Up the Points Against Sunset

With a playoff win on the line, North Mesquite rose to the challenge on Monday. They took their game with ease, bagging a 63-28 win over the Sunset Bison. The Stallions have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 14 matchups by 21 points or more this season.

North Mesquite found their leader in freshman Syniyah Grigsby, who dropped a double-double with 27 points and 12 boards. The contest was Grigsby's fourth in a row with at least 16 points. Another player making a difference was Raygen Brown-Seastrunk, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds.

North Mesquite smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in four consecutive games.

North Mesquite has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 matches, which provided a massive bump to their 18-15 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.8 points over those games. As for Sunset, their defeat dropped their record down to 23-10.

Coming up, North Mesquite will take on Chaparral at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Sunset does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
