It was a good run, but Edwards County unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-match winning streak on Saturday. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Norris City-Omaha-Enfield Fighting Cardinals. If the Lions were looking for revenge after losing 2-1 to the Fighting Cardinals when the teams met back in November of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Edwards County was the model of consistency in the loss, scoring 19 points in every single set they played. The final score came out to 25-19, 25-19.

Grace McCarty paced Edwards County's offense, picking up seven kills. McCarty got some help from Alice Robb and her 15 assists.

Edwards County's loss dropped their record down to 27-3. As for Norris City-Omaha-Enfield, the win was the 19th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 30-1.

Edwards County wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 2-1 victory against Effingham on the 18th. As for Norris City-Omaha-Enfield, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-0 win against Newton on the 18th.
