The Lucas Cubs had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 36.8 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They skirted past Mansfield Christian 61-58. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win Lucas has posted since January 5th.
It was another big night for Logan Toms, who scored 28 points along with five rebounds and two steals. He is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Aidan Culler, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 15 rebounds.
Lucas' victory was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-3. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 26.7 points. As for Mansfield Christian, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-4.
Lucas didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 72-55 loss vs. Willard on the 10th. Mansfield Christian will be playing at home against Fredericktown at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Mansfield Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 11 matchups -- so hopefully Fredericktown likes a good challenge.
