Northside Christian hasn't had much luck against Shorecrest Prep recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Mustangs will square off against the Chargers at 4:30 p.m. Northside Christian is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.5 runs per game this season.
On Thursday, Northside Christian earned a 14-10 win over Cambridge Christian. The Mustangs haven't had any issues with the Lancers recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.
Hanley Medina made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Gabriela Fisher was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Summer Mack, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Northside Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .562. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, Shorecrest Prep lost 12-1 to Academy of the Holy Names on Thursday. The match marked the Chargers' lowest-scoring game so far this season.
Shorecrest Prep saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Samantha Beltran, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.
This is the second loss in a row for Shorecrest Prep and nudges their season record down to 10-5. As for Northside Christian, their record is now 11-5.
Northside Christian suffered a grim 11-0 defeat to Shorecrest Prep in their previous meeting back in March. Can the Mustangs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
