The Santaluces Chiefs will head out on the road to face off against the Grandview Prep Pride at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Grandview Prep took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Santaluces, who comes in off a win.
Santaluces' five-game losing streak came to an end on Wednesday. They snuck past West Boca Raton with a 26-20 win.
Santaluces found their leader in underclassman Makaylah Wayde, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Wayde is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Lyiah Gaitor was another key contributor, scoring three points along with 11 rebounds and six blocks.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Grandview Prep, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 53-36 loss to Atlantic Christian last Thursday. Grandview Prep has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Santaluces' win bumped their record up to 4-8. As for Grandview Prep, their defeat was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 1-5.
Everything came up roses for Santaluces against Grandview Prep when the teams last played back in December of 2021 as the squad secured a 60-31 win. With Santaluces ahead 32-10 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
