If the Mt. Gilead Indians were riding high off their 57-18 takedown of the Lucas Cubs last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Mt. Gilead took a 31-27 hit to the loss column at the hands of Northmor. Mt. Gilead was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Northmor apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
Despite the loss, Mt. Gilead still got an impressive performance from Greer Simpson, who scored eight points along with 14 rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Kendall Neal, who scored four points along with five rebounds.
Northmor can attribute much of their success to Madison Simpson, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Simpson hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. Shelby Cooper was another key contributor, scoring five points along with nine rebounds and three steals.
Mt. Gilead has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-7 record this season. As for Northmor, their victory bumped their record up to 5-10.
Mt. Gilead will head out on the road to take on Patriot Prep Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Patriot Prep Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings (they are ranked 731st, while Mt. Gilead is ranked 350th). As for Northmor, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against East Knox at 7:30 p.m. East Knox is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.
