Wright are on the road again on Wednesday and plays the Carver Collegiate Academy Rams at 6:00 p.m. on February 7th. Wright comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 23 points in their last three games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
Wright lost a heartbreaker when they last took the court, but unfortunately for them the defeat they were handed on two weeks ago was a bit more commanding. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 45-22 walloping at the hands of Metairie Park Country Day.
Meanwhile, Carver Collegiate Academy waltzed into their matchup on Monday with five straight wins but they left with six. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Mt. Carmel and snuck past 42-40.
Akeelah Bovie was a one-man wrecking crew for Carver Collegiate Academy as she scored 18 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Bovie has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Bre'Ionne Irvin, who scored 13 points.
Wright dropped their record down to 2-20 with that loss, which was their 13th straight on the road. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 17.2 points per game. As for Carver Collegiate Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-14 record this season.
Wright was taken down by Carver Collegiate Academy 71-17 in their previous matchup back in December of 2022. Can Wright avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
