Basketball Recap: Make It Two in a Row for Westover Christian Academy

Westover Christian Academy won the last time they faced Roanoke Valley Christian, and Emily Evans did her part to make sure it happened again. The Westover Christian Academy Bulldogs simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat the Roanoke Valley Christian EAGLES 54-27 thanks in part to Evans, who almost dropped a triple-double on 25 points, 15 boards, and nine assists. She has been hot, having posted nine or more rebounds the last seven times she's played.

Mollie Lackey was another key player, putting up three points along with 16 boards and three steals. Those 16 rebounds gave her a new career-high.

Several EAGLES players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Maggie Apjok, who posted three points in addition to nine boards and four blocks. Another player making a difference was Eva Boyd, who scored eight points and four steals.

The win made it two in a row for Westover Christian Academy and bumps their season record up to 12-6. As for Roanoke Valley Christian, they have also traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last ten games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-12 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Westover Christian Academy has already played their next matchup (against Fuqua), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Roanoke Valley Christian has also has no score uploaded for their next contest, this one against Bath County.
