Last Friday, Calhoun Academy came up short against Cathedral Academy and fell 64-51. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Calhoun Academy in their matchups with Cathedral Academy: they've now lost five in a row.
Calhoun Academy might have lost, but man, Chase Strickland was a machine: he dropped a double-double on 14 points and 13 rebounds. Strickland has been hot recently, having posted nine or more rebounds the last seven times he's played. Another player making a difference was Connor Hayes, who scored 15 points.
Meanwhile, Orangeburg Prep strolled past Palmetto Christian Academy with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 64-47. The win made it back-to-back wins for Orangeburg Prep.
Calhoun Academy's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-9. As for Orangeburg Prep, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season.
Calhoun Academy ended up a good deal behind Orangeburg Prep in their previous matchup two weeks ago, losing 51-33. Can Calhoun Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
