With a playoff game on the line, the Rockmart Yellowjackets rose to the challenge on Friday. They walked away with a 34-24 victory over the Hornets. The win was familiar territory for Rockmart who now have 11 in a row.
Rockmart's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Brent Washington, who rushed for 51 yards and three touchdowns. Calliyon Thompson was another key contributor, throwing for 124 yards and two touchdowns.
Loss or not, Cook got some senior leadership from Ny'shaun Wallace who picked up 120 receiving yards and a touchdown and Keshun Mckever who rushed for 60 yards and a touchdown.
Rockmart has yet to lose a contest at home this season, leaving them with a 12-2 record. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 46.7 points per game. As for Cook, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-3.
Rockmart will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Pierce County at 1:00 p.m. on December 12th. One thing working in Pierce County's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last seven matchups. Cook does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
