Even though Deer Creek-Mackinaw scored an imposing 56 points on Friday, Peoria Christian still came out on top. In a tight contest that could have gone either way, Peoria Christian made off with a 57-56 win over the Chiefs. Given Peoria Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 248th, while the Chiefs are ranked 546th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Peoria Christian got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Malachi Persinger out in front who scored 18 points along with seven assists and seven rebounds. Jameson Fisher was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Lewistown came up short against the Spartans on Tuesday and fell 43-33.
Peoria Christian has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-10 record this season. As for Lewistown, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 14 of their last 15 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-18 record this season.
