West Carroll is a perfect 8-0 against Humboldt since April of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The War Eagles are taking a road trip to face off against the Vikings at 5:00 p.m. West Carroll has given up an average of 11.4 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
West Carroll took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They walked away with a 16-11 victory over Haywood. The win continues a trend for the War Eagles in their matchups with the Tomcats: they've now won three in a row.

R.Q. Thompson and Harlan Hames made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Thompson pitched 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off three hits. Meanwhile, Hames tossed two innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. What's more, Thompson posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2025. At bat, Thompson got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four stolen bases, one double, and one RBI, while Hames got on base in three of his five plate appearances with four stolen bases and three runs. Hames is becoming a predictor of West Carroll's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-1 (and 4-18 when he doesn't).
In other batting news, Eli Bryant was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2025. J.W. Rushing was another key player, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
West Carroll always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Humboldt and Middleton meet (five straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Friday. The Vikings lost 16-2 to the Tigers.
Humboldt's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for West Carroll, their record now sits at 8-19.
West Carroll got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in March of 2025 against Humboldt by a conclusive 16-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the War Eagles since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
