Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Sabetha Bluejays, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They fell 17-7 to Nemaha Central on Friday. The low total for Sabetha limited their streak of high-flying scores to three in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Sabetha lost, one person who can't be blamed is Colin Menold. Despite the final result, he rushed for 109 yards. Menold was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 67 yards.
Carter Hajek was his usual excellent self, rushing for 229 yards and two touchdowns. Hajek is absolutely dominating the rushing touchdown category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the field this season.
Sabetha's defeat dropped their record down to 10-2. As for Nemaha Central, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 12-0.
Sabetha does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Nemaha Central will take on Hoisington at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hoisington is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road.
