Having just played yesterday, the Veritas Prep Falcons will jump right back in to play the Williams Vikings at 10:30 a.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Veritas Prep comes in on three and Williams on four.
Veritas Prep has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 22 points or more this season. They blew past NFL Yet Academy 70-43 on the road. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 36-16.
Veritas Prep's win on Thursday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Mason Twist, who scored 15 points along with three steals. That's the first time this season that Twist scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Jared Barrett , who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and five blocks.
Meanwhile, everything went Williams' way against St. Michael two weeks ago as Williams made off with a 58-36 win.
Williams had a senior duo take command as Nickoli Cody scored 23 points along with five rebounds and JP Echeverria scored 11 points along with seven assists and four steals. The game was Cody's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mario Pedraza, who scored seven points.
Veritas Prep has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. As for Williams, their win bumped their record up to 9-5.
Keep an eye on the arc in Friday's matchup: Veritas Prep have made nailing deep shots look easy this year this season, having only averaged 4.2 threes per game. It's a different story for Williams, though, as they've been averaging only 2.1 threes per game. Given Veritas Prep's sizeable advantage in that area, Williams will need to find a way to close that gap.
Veritas Prep ended up a good deal behind Williams in their previous matchup back in December of 2022, losing 47-29. Can Veritas Prep avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
