The Kathleen Red Devils will head out on the road to face off against the Sebring Blue Streaks at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Kathleen has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Kathleen pushed their score all the way to 79 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. The match between them and Victory Christian Academy wasn't particularly close, with Kathleen falling 93-79. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Monday (66), Kathleen still had to take the loss.
Jeremy Nixon put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 20 points. He is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. Jerome Groves was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Meanwhile, Sebring strolled past the Red Devils with points to spare, taking the game 81-66. Given Sebring's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 207th, while the Red Devils are ranked 570th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Kj Turner continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 30 points along with five rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Sebring's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Gregory, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds.
Kathleen has not been sharp recently as the team's lost eight of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-17 record this season. As for Sebring, they pushed their record up to 14-8 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Kathleen ended up a good deal behind the Blue Streaks in their previous meeting on Monday, losing 81-66. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Turner, who scored 30 points along with five rebounds. Now that Kathleen knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
