The Langley Saxons pushed their score all the way to 66 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 79-66 to Yorktown. Despite running the score up even higher than they did on Monday (55), Langley still had to take the loss.
Yorktown was led to victory by Austin Barbieri and Nick Senkus. Barbieri scored 16 points along with seven rebounds, while Senkus made all 6 shots he took from beyond the arc racking up 18 points and 1 assists. Those 18 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Brennan Pilot, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.
Langley has been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season. As for Yorktown, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-4.
Langley will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Albemarle at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday. Albemarle presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Langley in Virginia (Albemarle is ranked 71st, while Langley is ranked 252nd). Yorktown will finish 2023 at home by hosting Brunswick at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday.
