The Fredericksburg V Victory were the 67-48 winner over the Spirit HomeSchool Warhawks when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Fredericksburg V was outmatched by Spirit HomeSchool on the road and fell 63-31. While losing is never fun, Fredericksburg V can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 351st, while Spirit HomeSchool is ranked 173rd).
Fredericksburg V's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Chris Jones, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds and four steals. Jones is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Ben Arndt, who scored eight points.
Fredericksburg V's defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 4-9. As for Spirit HomeSchool, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fredericksburg V will take on James River HomeSchool at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Spirit HomeSchool, they will head out on the road to face off against Evangel Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Evangel Christian is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
